WELCOME
to Yoga of the Heart
Yoga
of the Heart is taught in the Svaroopa
® style, one of the many styles of Hatha Yoga. Hatha
Yoga is one of many types of Yoga. There is, for example,
Bhakti Yoga (devotion), Raja Yoga (meditation), Karma Yoga
(action/service), Hatha Yoga (body awareness) etc. Each
one is a different path to the same goal. The goal of each
type of Yoga is awareness, consciousness, our state of being.
The wonderful vehicle of Hatha Yoga is the body and breath
awareness. Through the practice of Yoga we can come into
a greater awareness of our bodies, our state of being, our
Essential Nature. Gradually, we can drop the patterns that
bind and contract our body, our heart and mind; and move
more into the joyful, peaceful space of the heart.
All levels of fitness are welcome. No prior experience is
necessary.
Adeline Alex, RYT (Registered Yoga Teacher)
CSYT (Certified Svaroopa® Yoga Teacher) and Senior Teacher
began her study of yoga and meditation in 1972. She received
so much “inner fullness” from her practice of
yoga that she was inspired to share it with others. |
 |
| In 1976 she began teaching and has continued
to offer her love of yoga in the Metrowest area for over 25
years. She met Rama Berch (founder of Svaroopa Yoga) in 1997
and began her studies in 1998. Addie has mentored beginning
teachers through Svaroopa Yoga’s DTS mentoring program
and she continues her studies in the Advanced Teacher Training
Program. She also enjoys facilitating the inner journey that
yoga has to offer. |

opening up your body, you clear the density from your heart
and mind, so that you may have what yoga promises”

ABOUT SVAROOPA
YOGA
Svaroopa yoga is one of the primary styles
of hatha yoga in America. It is known for its compassionate
approach to profoundly transformative work with the body,
mind and emotions. It is widely recognized as a powerful
tool for promoting healing and transformation,
as well as opening the inner levels of transcendent experience.
In Svaroopa yoga the emphasis
is on releasing the tensions at the core of the body along
the spine beginning at the tailbone and progressing
through each spinal area. The poses are carefully chosen to
provide this opening.
A key principle of Svaroopa yoga is support
equals release. Through the support of props (blankets,
blocks, chairs) the muscles relax allowing tensions and compression
to be released without exertion. There is an unwinding
of core tensions which has a beneficial effect into all the
systems of the body- nervous, digestive, respiratory, circulatory
etc.
Svaroopa yoga specializes in the inner opening.
As soon as you experience this physical opening, you realize
that something has opened all the way through your whole being.
An inner state of being at ease becomes accessible.
The changes are profound and reliable.
Svaroopa yoga classes offer you the opportunity to
feel uplifted and more joyful; deeply relaxed and calm; to
have greater clarity and more energy; to release stress and
anxiety; to feel well from the inside out; and MORE!
